Resources SAVED by recycling: climate protection in black and white
We work together with our customers to conserve precious resources and protect the climate. The renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Security and Energy Technology (UMSICHT) regularly uses figures to prove the positive effects of the Interzero mission.
In its annual study “resources SAVED by recycling”, the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT calculates the extent to which the environment has been helped by Interzero’s recycling services.
In 2024 alone, this study showed that 1.9 million tonnes of resources were handled by closed-loop systems run by Interzero’s companies such as Interzero in Germany, Austria, Poland; Italy and Slovenia, saving around 8.09 million tonnes of primary raw materials.
This corresponds to the weight of over four million SUVs. At the same time, Interzero’s recycling activities avoided a total of 1.04 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. This equals the CO2 emissions from around 3.2 million single car journeys between Interzero’s locations in Warsaw and Valencia.**
